Why You Aren't Getting Invited To Job Interviews

Updated: May 5, 2020

Whether you have ample job experience or you are fresh out of college, there are many reasons why you are getting passed up for job interviews.

The only thing everyone has in common is that no one is the same, everyone is unique with their own special traits and skills. Recruiters and hiring managers have the distinct pleasure of reviewing hundreds and even thousands of resumes every day looking for the perfect job candidate. In most cases, your resume is the first impression recruiters have of you to determine if you should be invited for an interview. It is unfair that an 8 x 11 sheet of paper can hold so much power but alas it is the society that we live in.

Having a good resume is crucial in your job search but it is very important to understand that an ideal resume is subjective to each and every industry and even company. If you have an eye-catching resume with creative info graphics about your accomplishments but you are applying to be an accountant, you might experience difficulty landing that job interview. However if you are applying to be a social media intern or marketing specialist then a creative resume will be more appropriate.

Make sure your resume lines up with the job you are applying for. It sounds easy enough but just like you, every company is unique with their own preferences and ideas for what qualifies a resume as interview worthy or not. If you want a resume that will maximize your chances of landing that interview, make sure you check out the Services page at DNGCareerServices.com!

You can get your resume critiqued or save time and hassle but getting a newly customized resume for the industry you are interested in. Reinvest that time you will save by brushing up on your interview skills to make sure you get that job!
