The Job Search Struggle For Recent College Grads
Updated: Oct 26, 2019

Congrats on graduating college!
Now that you have been unceremoniously dumped in the real world, you can look forward to the all encompassing struggle of adulting while trying to find a job that isn't soul sucking or barely above minimum wage.
You have the education down pat but employers are passing you up on job offers because you lack the experience. Yet, how do you get that experience if you can't get a job because you lack the experience? Let me tell you about transferable skills. If you do not have a lot of experience to put down on a resume, start thinking about other things you have accomplished that let you hone some important skills.
Were in any organizations, clubs or sports teams? Did you have a big group project that you were the leader of and ended up getting a great grade on the assignment? Did you do any freelance work on the side like photography, babysitting, etc? Were you a peer tutor? Think of every possible college experience that could possibly have given you skills or knowledge that you can write on your resume to market yourself.
You have more experience and knowledge than you know, the trick is simply finding it and figuring out how to put it on your resume. I am here tell you that you WILL find a job, you WILL pay off your student debt (eventually), and you WILL be able to afford your own place one day, and you WILL be successful so don't lose hope. You accomplished something a lot of people dream about so be proud!
